"Draft 1" is a painting done in the style of a comic book spread and multiple moments are shown as you might see in a comic; this piece was created as a way for me to ideate a much larger story as evident in the wispy cloud background. The clouds tell the creation story of the very story idea that the characters reside in. Some are key figures or moments which are integral to the world I am building. It was created over many layers in procreate and the underlay is left to show the history of the idea as the painting progressed.
The central character Nyx has her hands visibly shaking and an awful expression stuck on her face as Ashlyn falls down beyond the boundary to the physical world. A boundary that may have been changed forever. The story pivots around Ashlyn as the only person who can actively remember her dream world, unbeknownst to her, that dream world is very real indeed and merging with our own reality. The dream world contains the spirits of those who dream (dreamers) and the spirits of those who have yet to be reborn (souls), as a dreamer Ashlyn handles dangerous and sometimes tragic situations and ultimately finds themselves face to face with the forces that control both worlds. This piece shows the power of inspiration and is a preview of more to come.
